While a relative few voices publicly questioned the prohibition against women voting in the decades following the country’s founding, most Americans did not wholeheartedly consider this question until the last century.
We remember Russ Reilly as a dedicated coach and teacher, as a selfless volunteer, as a spirited stadium announcer, and as a cornerstone of the Middlebury community. Most of all, we remember Russ for giving voice to our most cherished values.

Being of mixed races, Demetrius Borge ’16 says that he has enjoyed many of the privileges of being Black, but has faced none of the consequences. So he became inspired to better understand the Black experience at Middlebury—not by internalizing the experience, but by opening himself up to those already in this space.
Students in the Middlebury College choir are traveling to Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania in the spring of 2018 to perform songs native to the three countries along with music from North American composers.
